Immersive Field Visit

Visitors on these treks will have the opportunity to visit, first-hand the beautiful landscapes in which pastoralism in Kachchh thrives. They will visit pastoral settlements along migratory routes and have the opportunity to experience life on the move.

Field Immersion 1 - Chhari Dhandh

A visit to the Chhari Dhandh wetlands and the Banni grasslands to understand local biodiversity and ecosystems.

An opportunity to spend time with camel herders from the Fakirani Jat community and learn about their traditional camel herding practices.

An opportunity to taste fresh camel milk.

Field Immersion 2 - Lakhpat

A visit to mangroves near Lakhpat to understand this unique ecosystem and learn about the swimming kharai camel found here;

An opportunity to stay in the Dhragavandh hamlet and spend time with the Fakirani Jat pastoral community and learn about their life and traditional camel herding practices;

An opportunity to witness and understand the symbiotic relationship between two pastoral communities- the Rabari sheep herders and the Fakirani Jat camel herders.
